Get ready people… The phone that has been in the works for over a year is here. Apple is about to release the new  iPhone 4G (also rumored to be called the iPhone HD). Less than a year since the iPhone 3Gs was launched. Sorry all you 3GS people.  The new features are a better camera, an OLED screen, a removable battery, and different casing. Reports are that the iPhone 4G will have a better camera than the 3-megapixel shooter found on the iPhone 3GS. The iPhone 4G’s camera could offer up to 5 megapixels, which would put it on the par with the camera in Google’s Nexus One.  Apple is also working on an updated version of the iPhone OS with an overhauled App Store. It is also rumored to support video chat.

The rumor was that Apple was going to go into production in April with a release date of June/July but Report says  that Apple then targeted May because it thought that’s when Google would release their Nexus One Android smartphone.  Actually, Google unveiled their phone earlier this year. Is it likely that Apple moved up the release of a new iPhone to compete with Google.

But is apple really behind the times? The At&t commercial will have you believing that the iPhone is the only multitasking smartphone on the market. That is funny because I am actually writing this from my Verizon Blackberry Tour while on hold with Comcast trying to figure out why my internet is down.  Apple also claims to be the only phone with picture mail. Picture mail has been around for five years people.

I’m not saying that Apple doesn’t make a good product. I just don’t understand how they can just keep coming out with updated versions of their products and expect the public to buy them. But have no fear Apple Inc. Your faithful cult like following will be lining up to buy this one. Just like they did for the iPad a few days ago.

Google has released the Nexus Phone. Google employees have had this phone for a few weeks now. Initial reports are that the hardware is quite buggy.
